Frequently Asked Questions
What does a float valve do?
A float valve keeps the water level in a trough or tank constant. A float rides on the water surface and closes the valve as the level rises, then reopens it as the level drops, so stock or a system draw down is refilled automatically without manual topping up.
Do float valves fit concrete water troughs?
Yes. Bundaberg Concrete Casters supplies float valves alongside its concrete cattle and water troughs, including a ball float cover to protect the valve from stock damage. Troughs take 1 1/2 inch inlets for either side fill or bottom fill.
Can you buy a replacement float valve on its own?
Yes. Replacement ball float valves and other trough components are available separately, so a worn valve does not mean replacing the trough. Call (07) 4151 5969 with your trough and inlet details.
Why does a float valve need a cover?
In a stock trough the valve is the most vulnerable part. Cattle knock and lean on it, which can bend the arm or break the float and leave the valve stuck open or closed. A ball float cover shields it so the valve keeps working.
Do you deliver float valves outside Bundaberg?
Yes. Bundaberg Concrete Casters delivers throughout Queensland, either to your site or to your depot. The company also supplies the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads and Ergon Energy.
